Old Bewick Overview:

      General Description
A mainly grassed hill with some small rock outcrops, scree and a large detached boulder at its west end. The top is an ancient hill fort. A better choice if the wind is of to the south at Titlington Pike. Works best in a southerly wind, will take a bit of s.west.
      Access Notes
From the A697 at Powburn head north towards Wooler. At the sawmill turn right onto the B6346. Follow this to a T junction and turn left. This road will bring you beneath Old Bewick. Just past a large stone barn, turn right at a row of cottages and follow the rutted track through the first gate, the track bears left then up onto the flat area behind the hill, park here. Then follow a footpath over a stile and up hill through the woods. 4x4's may drive all the way up the track to the second gate, then before the third gate turn right and follow the track and cut back in order to top drive the site.
