East Hill Overview:

      General Description
A small grass covered hill that forms one end of a short ridge, its best wind direstion is s.easterly but can work well in a southerly. This site works well with sea breezes which are gauranteed in the summer. It can also produce some very good lift including wave if the wind is off to the south !
      Access Notes
Take the A697 to Powburn. Immediately north of Hedgley Service Station take the left turn into the Breamish Valley. Go past the caravan site and on to the small hamlet of Branton. Bear right in Branton and after 300 yds continue straight on at the bifurcation in the road (signposted no through road). The hill is on the right, either:

a) Park by the gate to meadow at the foot of the hill and carry up, or

b) Continue up the road to the farm, bearing right at the first cottages, across the yard and around the back of a large building. Turn right through a gate and follow the track to the top, park on the flat area near the right side of the track well back from the ridge so that you can not be seen from both sides of the valley.
      Safety
This site can and does get very busy. As it is a small site take extra care when flying on busy days particularly when both paragliders and hang gliders are in the air together.

Toplanding - beware this site will have huge rotor over the back (spined back) if you are getting blown back head for the easterly side of the hill asap ! or you may have to run down wind and land well away from the hill for safety.
